To kick start the new 2021 series we will explore the Economic Road to Recovery. Leading the discussion our panellists are, Michael Blythe who has recently retired as Chief Economist, CBA and Christine Yates, Chief Executive Officer (Retail), Australian Unity. The discussion will be moderated by Dr Alessio Galluzzi from the Discipline of Finance at the Business School.

Moderator

Dr Alessio Galluzzi joined the Discipline of Finance at the University of Sydney Business School in 2019. He received his PhD in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He also earned a Bachelor and a Master in Economics and Social Sciences from Bocconi University, Italy. His research interests include Banking, Macro-finance, Financial Stability, and Information Economics, with a focus on the liquidity provision by financial intermediaries.

Panellists

Christine Yates, Chief Executive Officer, Retail at Australian Unity
Christine joined Australian Unity in August 2020 as Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Unity Retail platform, which brings together Australian Unity's private health insurance, banking, and general insurance. Christine is a Director of Australian Unity Bank Limited and Australian Unity Health Limited.  Prior to joining Australian Unity Christine had an extensive career as a banking executive with over 25 years' experience across investment and institutional banking, private banking, wealth management and insurance. Christine began her career at Deloitte as a Chartered Accountant before moving to the banking industry.  Prior to joining Australian Unity she was the Chief Customer Office for Private, Wealth and Insurance at BNZ, a subsidiary of the NAB Group.  Christine is also an alumna of the Business School.

Michael Blythe, Former Chief Economist (retired 2020) CBA

Michael is a respected economist and senior executive with extensive experience in economic policy and financial markets. He has worked across both Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Reserve Bank of Australia and brings great knowledge of, and insight into, the Australian and global economy, economic policy and markets. With more than three decades of experience, including nearly 20 years as Chief Economist at the Commonwealth Bank, Michael's expertise is in monitoring, analysing and forecasting trends in the Australian economy and financial markets.  Michael is also an alumnus of the Business School.
