Presenter: Dr Joost de Kock, Deputy Secretary Customer Strategy and Technology, Transport for NSW

Bio

Joost's career has been built around his ability to set strategy, define technology-driven reform and deliver customer-centric solutions. Joost joined Transport for NSW as Deputy Secretary Customer Strategy and Technology in March 2020 and leads the development of long-term, multi-modal strategies, plans and policies for the Transport Cluster. Joost is also responsible for technology innovation and data analytics to develop integrated customer-centred mobility solutions. Joost manages the Opal ticketing, tolling, concessions, freight, public affairs and marketing functions.

Prior to this he was the General Manager Enterprise Transformation at Services Australia. Joost had a consulting career spanning two decades as a Partner, Managing Director and Senior Advisor with The Boston Consulting Group focusing on technology enabled transformations in government. Early in his career he worked for Sony as a researcher in their Tokyo R&D Centre.

He is a non-executive director of Redkite, a not-for-profit organisation that provides a lifeline to families facing childhood cancer.

Joost holds a PhD in medical engineering from Oxford University, BA in electronic engineering and computer science from Cambridge University and an MBA from Cranfield School of Management.

Joost lives in Sydney with his wife Sally and two teenage boys. He enjoys tennis, sailing, hiking and collecting Japanese woodblock prints.
