Skills Masterclass – How to build collaborative and productive workplaces

Nov 20, 2025 9:30 am - 4:00 pm AEDT
The Refectory, Level 5 , Belinda Hutchinson Building (H70)
The University of Sydney

We are pleased to invite you to an important masterclass on skills to build collaborative and productive workplaces and resolve conflict, hosted by the Sydney Employment Relations Research Group and featuring senior Members of the Fair Work Commission.

This full-day workshop, facilitated by Members of the Fair Work Commission, will bring together leading practitioners, academics, and policymakers to explore practical tools for building more collaborative and productive and harmonious workplaces. The program includes:

  • An introduction to interest-based problem solving and the Fair Work Commission’s Collaborative Approaches Program
  • Case studies and panel discussions featuring government, union, and employer representatives
  • Skills sessions on reframing, active listening, and constructive problem solving with Members of the Fair Work Commission

The event aligns with recent remarks by the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, the Hon Amanda Rishworth MP, who emphasised the importance of constructive dialogue and tripartism in fostering fair, safe, and productive workplaces. Harmonising workplace practices and strengthening collaborative skills are key to Australia’s future economic and social prosperity.

Whether you are a bargaining specialist, HR professional, union representative, or policy advisor, this masterclass offers a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of interest-based approaches and connect with peers across sectors.

Morning tea and lunch provided.
