Workshop - AI-Powered Analytics Using Copilot - Day 2

Aug 20, 2026 9:00 am - 3:00 pm AEST
Rm 5070 ,
Belinda Hutchinson Building (H70)
The University of Sydney

You are invited to a hands-on, two-day program led by Professor Sourindra Banerjee during his visit to the Business School.

The program is designed especially for HDR candidates and early-career researchers and is also open to academic staff across the Business School. As the sessions build sequentially, participants should plan to attend both days.

Generative AI can accelerate business analytics, but credible research still depends on well-designed prompts, sound methods and informed scholarly judgement. This program will show participants how to use Microsoft Copilot across an end-to-end analytical workflow—from importing and manipulating data to visualising patterns, estimating models and strengthening a research paper.

Day 1: Data import and manipulation; descriptive statistics and data visualisation; principal component analysis.

Day 2: Cluster analysis; linear regression; logistic regression.

By the end of the program, participants will be better equipped to:

  • design defensible prompts for business and academic research;
  • produce publication-quality tables and figures;
  • interpret and interrogate AI-supported analyses; and
  • use AI-generated feedback constructively when developing research write-ups.

Working with a real-world consumer dataset featuring brands including Kimberly-Clark, Hewlett-Packard, Aquafresh and Sotheby’s, participants will cover:

DAY 2 | Thursday 20 August | H70 Room 5070

LECTURE 4        Unsupervised machine learning algorithms II: Cluster Analysis (9:00 am - 10:30 am)
LECTURE 5  Supervised machine learning algorithms I: Linear Regression (11:00 am - 12:30 pm)
LECTURE 6 Supervised machine learning algorithms II: Logistic Regression (1:30 pm - 3:00 pm)
