Jim Kitay specialises in research on work and employment relations in service industries. He has a particular interest in the development of occupational structures and processes. He is currently engaged in a study of small business in colonial New South Wales.
Jim has a longstanding interest in the comparative study of employment relations and human resource management. He has published widely on the retail banking industry, and was co-coordinator of major studies of the automobile manufacturing and banking industries in Australia, Asia, Europe and North America. He also has undertaken extensive research into the activities, influence and careers of management consultants. His most recent book was a study of the history of occupational health nursing in New South Wales.
