Bio

Dr. Rohan Miller holds a PhD in Marketing and Masters Degrees in Business Administration and Accounting. He is presently a Senior Lecturer in Marketing at The University of Sydney. Rohan has also held academic positions at the Universities of Wollongong and Queensland.

Rohan believes in teaching and researching issues that are relevant to practice. His teaching areas include consumer behaviour, marketing communications and marketing strategy.

Rohan’s research investigates a combination of (1) consumption with potentially negative effects (e.g. gambling, alcohol, food, digital social games), (2) advertising, media and integrated marketing communications, (3) public policy, (4) children as consumers and (5) play. Rohan also ventures into other topics of interest (such as urban animal management, wool value chains, ethics, asbestos and the environment). His research has been published in various academic journals, including the Journal of Business Research, the Journal of Business Ethics, Marketing Theory, the Journal of Marketing Communications and Public Relations Review. He reviews for a number of leading journals.

After beginning his career in the alcohol and media industries, Rohan is an active consultant, company director, media commentator and expert witness (including matters related to advertising, alcohol and gambling). While on leave from the University from 2006-2008, Rohan held the position of Research and Planning Manager at a top 50 publicly listed Australian company.
