2026 Chapter Honouree

Ms Emma Bacon the founder and Executive Director of Sweltering Cities presented with Chapter Honouree award.

The University of Sydney Business School's Honour Society, Beta Gamma Sigma recognised Ms Emma Bacon, CEO of the Sweltering Cities as an outstanding business community leader at the recognition ceremony on 27 May 2026.

Our 2026 Chapter Honouree is the Founder and Executive Director of Sweltering Cities, Australia’s national advocacy organisation focused on extreme heat, climate resilience, and equitable urban communities. Through her leadership, Sweltering Cities has worked with communities across Australia to advocate for more liveable, sustainable, and climate-safe cities, particularly for those most impacted by rising temperatures and extreme heat.

Her work sits at the intersection of climate justice, public health, sustainability, and community advocacy. She has been a leading voice in ensuring that conversations around climate change remain centred on people, equity, and long-term social impact. Her commitment to ethical leadership and creating positive societal change reflects the values of Beta Gamma Sigma and serves as an outstanding example to our student and alumni community.
